MOORHEAD, Minn. – Minot State University finally lost a fourth set.
MSU had previously won four set 4s this season, but University of Minnesota Crookston finished off a 3-1 win by taking set 4 25-21. The Beavers won game 1 25-19, but Crookston turned the tables, sweeping the final three 27-25, 25-20, 25-21 at the Minnesota State Moorhead Tharaldson Classic Saturday.
The Beavers fell to 2-5 on the season and 0-3 at the Tharaldson Classic. MSU played Northern State in a second match at the tournament, but not final scores or statistics were available.
MSU was paced by
Jen Dixon (So., OH, Brandon, Manitoba) and freshman
Kelsey Wingo (MH, Twain Harte, Calif.) who had 16 kills each in the loss.
Emily Byrne (Fr., S, Reno, Nev.) had a match-high 48 assists.
Chelsey Bryant (So., OH, Brandon, Manitoba) added 16 digs to pace the defense.
The Golden Eagles (3-3) were paced by 44 assists by Kelsy Matykowski. Brittany Looker was the high-kill player with 16.
MSU opens the home portion of its 2011 schedule with a match against Williston State College Thursday at the MSU Dome. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
