RECORDS: Minot State is 7-0 overall and 3-0 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play this season. St. Cloud State has a 6-1 overall record with a 2-1 mark in the NSIC while Minnesota Duluth has a 5-2 overall record and a 2-1 record in conference play.
COACHES CORNER: Minot State's is coached by
Sheila Green Gerding. In her 19th season at the helm of the Beaver women's basketball program, Green Gerding has amassed an impressive 322-213 overall record. She has qualified Minot State for six NAIA National Tournaments over her career while also coaching 12 All-Americans both at the NAIA and NCAA Division II levels. The Huskies are coached by Lori Fish. Fish is in her sixth season heading the Husky program and her tenth overall season as a collegiate coach. She has an overall record of 144-116 during her career including a 22-9 overall record in 2008-09 when she led the Huskies to an NSIC Tournament Championship and a NCAA Division II Central Region Tournament appearance. The Bulldogs are coached by Annette Wiles. Wiles is in her 21st season as a collegiate coach and her sixth season at UMD. Wiles owns a 388-201 career record including a 88-60 mark with the Bulldogs. She has brought stability and success to the Bulldog program, leading the team to the NCAA Division II playoffs twice in the last five years while also producing nine All-Conference selections including one NSIC Player of the Year (Jheri Booker, 2009-10).

RECENT HISTORY: Minot State wrapped up their season opening seven game home stand with two big NSIC wins over Northern State and Minnesota State University Moorhead. Friday night the Wolves hit a long three-point shot at the buzzer to tie the game at 59 and force overtime. However, the Beavers rebounded and made 5-of-6 shots from the field on their way to outscoring NSU 16-9 in the extra period. Saturday Minot State took a 20-point advantage into halftime and cruised in the second half on their way to a 72-58 win over the Dragons. St. Cloud State suffered their first loss of the 2013-14 season Friday night when they allowed nearly 100 points in a 99-82 loss to Bemidji State. The Huskies responded the next night with a 85-70 win over University of Minnesota Crookston. University of Minnesota Duluth went 2-0 on the weekend as they defeated UMC 88-69 on Friday night and then took down Bemidji State 70-63 Saturday.
OVERALL SERIES: Minot State and University of Minnesota Duluth have faced each other just three times in school history with UMD holding a 2-1 advantage as they won both games during the 2012-13 season. St. Cloud State holds a 2-0 lead over the Beavers as they also won both matchups during MISU's first season in the NSIC.
NOTING THE HUSKIES: After going 19-9 in 2012-13, SCSU has the pieces in place to make a run at an NSIC North Title. The Huskies have three players averaging double-digit in points per game led by Jessica Benson with 15.0 points per game. Benson also leads the team with 10.1 rebounds per game through seven games. Rachel Moen is also having a stellar season thus far with 10.1 points per game and a team-high 5.4
assists per game. SCSU ranks No. 1 in all of NCAA Division II women's basketball in free throw percentage as they are shooting 84.8 percent from the line. The Husky offense is one of the best in the NSIC and even the entire national as they average 85.0 points per game rankings No. 11 in all of NCAA Division II. However, the SCSU defense has been subpar, allowing 70.9 points per game ranking just No. 12 in the NSIC.
NOTING THE BULLDOGS: University of Minnesota Duluth has gotten off a solid start to the 2013-14 season in part due to the teams rebounding ability. The Bulldogs lead the Northern Sun in rebounding margin with a plus-7.7 mark through seven games this year. UMD averages 40.9 rebounds per game including a NSIC leading 15.7 offensive rebounds per game. Reigning NSIC Player of the Week Hannah Rutten leads UMD with 17.4 points per game and 11.3 rebounds per game so far this season. Katrina Newman is also averaging 13.0 points per game and has pulled down 4.3 rebounds per game for the Bulldogs. UMD has struggled this season when it comes to taking care of the ball. The Bulldogs have the third most turnovers in all of the NSIC with 122 turnovers (17.4 turnovers per game).
BOAG CLIMBING THE RANKS:
Carly Boag (Sr., F, Tamworth, Australia) leads the Northern Sun in scoring so far this season, averaging 23.0 points per game. Boag has scored 156 points total seven games into her senior year and current ranks fourth on the Minot State women's basketball all-time scoring list with 1,347 career points. She sits just 25 points behind MacKenzie Mack for third all-time and 363 points behind all-time leader Kendra Meyer.

ASSISTING OTHERS FIRST: The Beavers have played some of the most unselfish basketball in recent history and it shows in the stat sheet. MISU leads the NSIC with 20.0 assists per game which also ranks them seventh in all of NCAA Division II in that category.

SHUTDOWN DEFENSE: Minot State's defense has done a solid job this season on making the opposing offense take difficult shots. MISU leads the Northern Sun and ranks No. 16 in all of NCAA Division II with a field goal percentage defense of 33.7 percent. The highest an opponent has shot against Minot State was 41.1 percent done by the University of Mary in a 29-72 Beaver win on Nov. 30.
KLOSE HITS CAREER-HIGH: Junior
Morgan Klose (G, Fairview, N.D.) has been primarily known during her MISU career for her ability to shoot three-point shots. During the 72-58 win over MSU Moorhead, Klose was a facilitator as she recorded a career-high eight assists, including five assists in the second half. She also passed 100 assists for her Minot State career and currently sits with 106 career assists, most among any active player.
FIRST HALF DOMINATION: The Beavers have proved to be a forceful team in the first half as they have never headed into halftime with a deficit during the 2013-14 season. Minot State averages as 12.7 point lead when they head to the locker room. One game this season MISU was tied at halftime after 20 minutes of play of play with University of Jamestown (32-32). The Beavers went on a 53-35 run in the second half to win the game.
CHRISTINA'S IMPACT: After sitting out a season ago,
Christina Boag (Jr., F, Tamworth, Australia) is quietly having a solid season for Minot State. Boag is averaging 10.1 points per game (4th on team), 4.9 rebounds per game (3rd on team), 3.1 assists per game (3rd on team), 3.3 steals per game (1st on team), and 1.6 blocks per game (1st on team) while also leading the team on the free throw line with a 90 percentage (18-of-20).
