Beavers scare Marauders back to Bismarck

Sall records game-high 16 kills to lead Minot State

MINOT, N.D. – Winning their fourth straight match in a row, the Minot State volleyball team seems to be unbeatable at the moment. The Beavers sunk rival University of Mary Tuesday night in the Minot State Dome, 3-0.

"These guys have done a great job continuing to grow and learn and play our system better and better each week," head Coach Travis Ward said. "It's starting to pay off for them. It's a huge credit to—again I'll go back to leadership on our team—staying the course."

Despite sweeping the Marauders in straight sets, Mary came out strong at the start of the match getting out to a 9-6 lead. The Beavers took control though when they won four straight points to bring the score to 15-12. With momentum on their side, Minot State closed out the first set 25-20.

That momentum carried itself into the second set as Minot State got out to a 7-2 lead and never looked back. The Beavers stretched their lead into a 10-point gap at 20-10 and finished the set 25-15.

With nine straight points to begin the final set for the Beavers, the game was all but over. Minot State finished out the set strong ending it 25-16.

Mallory Sall (Jr., OH, Port Coquitlam, British Columbia) led the Beavers with an impressive performance tonight recording 16 kills and five digs. She ended with a .412 hitting percentage.

Jen Dixon (Sr., OH, Brandon, Manitoba) also ended the match with double-digit kills. She finished with 14, respectively, and 10 digs. Rachel Fagerburg (Fr., OH, Tempe, Ariz.) led the way defensively for the Beavers recording 16 digs.

With the win, Minot State moves into 10th place in the NSIC, just two games out of the No. 8 spot in the conference. Their record moves to 6-10 in the conference and 9-16 overall.

This upcoming weekend will be a tough test for Minot State when they travel east to take on No. 3 Concordia-St. Paul and Minnesota State the following day.
