CROOKSTON, MINN. - Playing a tough first two sets (21-25, 26-24) the Minot State volleyball team was tied at one set apiece going into the third set. During that set Minnesota, Crookston was able to pull away and win 25-8. In the fourth set the Beavers bounced back a bit, but the Golden Eagles ended the match winning 25-19.
In the second-to-last match of the season MSU was outhit 55 kills to 43 and finished with an attack percentage of .096 compared to that of UMC's .271. In the second set, when Minot State won, the team hit .343. During the thrid set, when the Beavers were outscored by 17 points, they hit -.161.Â
There was high level individual play from the Beavers as three players finished with 10 or more kills. Leading the team with 11 kills was
Shaunessy Dauwalder (MH, Jr., Stanley, N.D.) who also had a team-high attack percentage of .364. Three athletes also finished with a team-high 14 digs including
Mallory Sall (OH, Sr., Port Coquitlam, British Columbia) who matched Dauwalder's 11 kills. Also finishing with 14 digs was assist leader
Kelsey Dewulf (S, Huntley, Ill.) who tallied 32 assists.Â
Minot State will play its final game of the season tomorrow, November 14 at Bemidji State. The game is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.Â
