BISMARCK, N.D. – The Minot State women's soccer team suffered their first loss of the season on Sunday afternoon at the University of Mary as the Beavers dropped their Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference opener 2-1.
Minot State falls to 1-1 on the year while the Marauders improved to 1-0.
After a little over 20 minutes of scoreless action, UMary's Elizabeth Patterson scored off a header to score the first goal of the game in the 24
th minute.
Minot State answered the Marauders 17 seconds later after
Meagan Kawahara scored from 30 yards out off a pass from
Ashley Hunter.
UMary scored what proved to be the game winner in the 33
rd minute when Caylin Cathey cleaned up a rebound off the post into the left side.
Minot State led the Marauders in shots on goal, 10-5.
Erin Rafferty recorded three saves in goal for the Beavers.
