Beavers Open NSIC Play at Mary

MINOT, N.D. -- The Minot State women's basketball team will open Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play on Saturday (Dec. 1) when it visits Mary for a 3:30 p.m. tip in the McDowell Activity Center.

After having its three-game winning streak halted by Chaminade in Hawaii, the Beavers have responded with back-to-back victories over Northwestern Oklahoma State and Valley City State. Minot State defeated Northwestern Oklahoma State 91-74 to conclude play in Hawaii and returned to the Minot State Dome to defeat Valley City State 66-59.

Kari Clements has been the Beavers top scorer in each of the last two games as she scored 21 points in the win against Northwestern Oklahoma State and had 19 points in the win over Valley City State.

Senior Madison Wald is the Beavers leading scorer on the season averaging 15.2 points per game and also ranks fourth on the team averaging 4.3 rebounds per contest.

Mariah Payne leads the Beavers averaging 4.0 assists per contest and ranks second on the team averaging 14.4 points per game, while Clements is third on the team scoring 13.5 points per outing.

Haley Hildenbrand is the Beavers leading rebounder averaging 4.7 per game, while Anna Counts and Clements are tied for second on the team averaging 4.5 per contest.

Minot State, which is 5-1 on the season, is shooting 45.1 percent from the floor as a team while limiting the opposition to just 34.6 percent shooting.

Mary enters Saturday's game with a 2-1 overall record. The Marauders defeated Yellowstone Christian (113-59) and Saint Martin's (62-47) and suffered a loss to Western Washington (73-72).

The game will be carried live on BEK Sports throughout the state of North Dakota.
