MINOT, N.D. -- Junior Shelby Spuller recorded a team-high 16 kills, but Minot State fell to No. 6 Minnesota Duluth 25-21, 25-23, 25-10 on Friday in a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference match in the Minot State Dome.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Minnesota Duluth broke a 19-19 deadlock in the first set with a 4-0 run and went on to post a 25-21 win
• Minot State hit .412 in the second set and Shelby Spuller had nine kills, but the Bulldogs broke a 22-22 tie with a 2-0 run on its way to a 25-23 win
• The Bulldogs used a 7-0 run midway through the third set to pull away from the Beavers and close out the match with a 25-10 victory

BEAVER TRACKS

• Shelby Spuller led the Beavers with 16 kills, which marked her sixth consecutive double-figure kill match
• Jeanne Brenner had seven kills and a .250 attack percentage
• Hayley Swain and Emily Falldorf each recorded five kills for the Beavers
• Hayley Swain, Shelby Spuller and Emily Falldorf each had two blocks
• Karli Koza led the Beavers with 16 digs, while Mekayla Gurley had 14 digs
• Kelsey Dewulf added 35 assists and five digs

TEAM NOTES

• Minot State hit a blistering .412 in the second set
• Minnesota Duluth held a 51-36 advantage in kills and a 53-47 edge in digs
• The Beavers and the Bulldogs each had four blocks
• Minot State dropped to 6-6 overall and 1-3 in the NSIC, while Minnesota Duluth improved to 9-3 overall and 3-1 in conference play
