(MINOT, N.D.) – The Minot State volleyball team was defeated in four sets by the Augustana Vikings in the 2019 home finale.

The Vikings narrowly won the first set 25-22 and MSU battled back to even the count at one set each with a 25-23 victory in the second frame. Augustana then went on a run to take the next two sets 25-16 and 25-21 for the win.

The Vikings were led by Payton Rosendahl and Izzy Sommers with 13 kills each. Maddy Guetter and Grace Haberland also recorded double-digit kills. Setter Avery Thorson had a very generous afternoon dishing out 47 assists. On the defensive side for Augustana, libero Erika Bute recorded 36 digs and Sommers led the team with two total blocks.

For Minot State, senior
Shelby Spuller was on fire with a team-high 18 kills.
Amarrie Welton was next in that category with nine. Mackenzie Froelich assisted 42 times in the match and
Karli Koza recorded 33 digs. Shae Pederson and
Quinn Billaney also had double-digit digs with 15 and 12, respectively. Senior
Emily Falldorf led the way with two total blocks.

With two games left in the 2019 season, the Beavers now sit at 3-24 overall and 2-16 in NSIC play. Augustana is now 19-8 overall and 12-6 in league competition.

Minot State will be back in action next weekend as they hit the road for the final two games of the year. The Beavers will visit Sioux Falls on Friday, Nov. 15 and Southwest Minnesota State on Saturday, Nov. 16.
