UMD and St. Cloud State On Deck for MSU Women's Basketball

(MINOT, N.D.) -- The Minot State women's basketball team will board the bus and hit the road for their first road trip in the conference season.

Minot State is coming off a 66-50 loss to UMary in the NSIC opener last weekend at the MSU Dome.
 
Series History 
           
      vs. Minnesota Duluth
  • UMD leads the all-time series 9-5.
  • The Bulldogs have won three straight including the most recent contest last season by a score of 79-51 (1/12/19).
  • Minot State has not beaten Minnesota Duluth since the 2016-17 season when they won two games 71-67 and 78-72.
  • The first game in the series went to UMD in 2013 when the Bulldogs beat the Beavers 62-49 in Duluth.
      vs. St. Cloud State
  • St. Cloud State leads the all-time series with MSU 10-4 dating back to 2013.
  • The Huskies are currently on a three-game winning streak versus the Beavers including last season's 67-60 and 61-60 victories.
  • The Beavers' most recent win came in 2017 when they beat SCSU by three, 61-58.
  • Minot State won two consecutive games in 2016 when they defeated St. Cloud State 73-63 (2/19) and 77-63 (12/30).
  • The inaugural game in the rivalry was won by the Huskies 67-60 in January of 2013.
 
Beaver Tracks 
  • Mariah Payne leads the Beavers in scoring with an average of 16.8 ppg.
  • Forward Calli Delsman leads the team on the glass with 31 total rebounds. Anna Counts, Haley Hildenbrand, and Reina Strand all have 20+ boards.
  • Delsman and Bethany Theodore each have 18 assists to pace the Beavers. Theodore also leads the squad in three-point shooting percentage at 42%.
  • Forward Haley Hildenbrand has been the most efficient shooter with a field goal percentage of 74%.
  • The Beaver defense is led by Delsman with six steals and Counts with four blocks.
 
Scouting Report 
 
      Minnesota Duluth
  • The Minnesota Duluth will take a 4-3 overall record and 1-0 NSIC record into the weekend.
  • The Bulldogs have three straight home games.
  • Preseason NSIC Player to Watch Brooke Olson is leading UMD in several categories including scoring (16.6 ppg), shooting percentage (55%), and rebounding (50 total, 7.1 rpg).
  • Sophomore guard Maesyn Thiesen has been a good distributor with 38 assists to lead the team.
  • Forward Sarah Grow leads UMD in blocks with ten.
 
      St. Cloud State
  • The Huskies have a 3-2 overall record and 0-1 record in the NSIC early in the 2019-20 season.
  • SCSU is scoring roughly 65 points per game through their first five contests.
  • St. Cloud State is led by the dynamic duo of Madelin Dammann and Nikki Kilboten. Damman is currently averaging 12.6 ppg and leading the team in rebounds with 25 total. Kilboten is close behind in both categories with a scoring average of 12.4 ppg and 24 total boards.
  • Junior Tori Wortz also averages double-digit points per game at 11.8 and has a team-best 13 assists.
  • Brehna Evans and Katrina Theis have added to the rebounding numbers with 20+ each.
  • Evans is also second on the club in assists with ten and leads St. Cloud State in steals with 13.
