(MINOT, N.D.) – In their final non-conference contest before the start of league play, the Minot State soccer team was defeated by the Montana State-Billings Yellowjackets by a score of 2-0.
The Yellowjackets scored two goals in the second half on their way to the victory. The first was recorded in the 48
th minute by sophomore reserve Lexie Bloyder. Another sophomore, Haylee Gunter, depositied the second goal in the 77
th stanza. Alexa Iacolucci made an assist on the second goal of the day.
Offensively, the Beavers mounted an aggressive attack but could not capitalize on a handful of opportunities.

Melanie van Walstijn each recorded two shots and one shot-on-goal. Freshman
Sarah Upton also put one shot on goal.

Erin Rafferty surrendered the two scores but also made eight saves on the afternoon.
Montana State-Billings GK Erinn Harder also had an impressive day with a completed shutout and four saves.
Minot State's overall record dropped to 0-3-0 overall heading into NSIC competition. The win for MSU-Billings was their first of the 2019 campaign as their record now sits at 1-2-2.
The Beaver soccer team will be back in action this Friday, September 20
th at Herb Parker Stadium. Minot State will host the Minnesota State-Moorhead Dragons for the league opener.
