The Minot State women's basketball team will travel to Marshall, MN., to compete in the SMSU Classic. The Beavers will face Truman State University on Friday, Nov. 19 at 3 p.m. and Maryville University at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 20.
Last time out
The Beavers are coming off a win Tuesday night in an exhibition game against the Blue Hawks. Minot State defeated Dickinson State 62-54 at home.
Leading the way
The Beavers had three players score in double figures, led by junior point-guard
Kate Head, who score 15 points.
Anna Counts and
Natasha Elliott added 11 and 10 points off the bench, respectively. Minot State's defense held Dickinson State to only 32.7 percent shooting from the field.
Scouting the Bulldogs
Friday's action will be the first-ever meeting between the Beavers and the Bulldogs. Truman State went 17-5 overall in the 2020-2021 season, averaging 70.1 points per game. The bulldogs are 0-2 on the year, coming off back-to-back losses at the GLVC/GMAC/GLIAC conference challenge. The Bulldogs were led by Hannah Belanger and Ellie Weltha, who averaged 22.5 and 20 points per game respectively in the tournament. Â
Scouting the Saints
Saturday's action will be the first-ever matchup between the Beavers and the Saints. Maryville University went 11-11 overall in the 2020-2021 season, with an 11-10 record in conference play. The Saints are 1-1 so far this season, coming off a 32-62 loss Saturday, Nov. 13, against Grand Valley State. The Saints were led by redshirt junior Taylor Kirby, who scored 12 points and had 4 rebounds against the Lakers.

Following the in the SMSU Classic this weekend, the Minot State women's basketball team will return home to host University of Mary Tuesday, Nov. 23 at 5:30 p.m. at the MSU Dome.
