GAME 1 | Minot State 10, Minnesota State-Moorhead 1 (5 innings)
MOORHEAD, Minn. --The Minot State Beavers took a 4-0 lead in the second inning and never surrendered the advantage on the way to a 10-1 victory against the Minnesota State-Moorhead Dragons on Wednesday.

Junior
Trinity Valentine (6-3) started in the circle and picked up the win for Minot State (11-10, ). The right-hander went four shutout innings while giving up one hit, allowing two walks and striking out six.

Offensively, the Beavers were paced by sophomore
Jamie Odlum, who went 1-for-1 on the day with three walks and an RBI. Freshman
Brooklyn Morrison went 1-for-1 with a double and an RBI. Sophomore
Lauryn DeGuzman also chipped in for Minot State, putting together zero hits in zero trips to the plate while adding three walks.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Beavers put runs on the scoreboard first, starting the scoring in the second inning. Minot State's offense started clicking and put up four runs, including a one-run single off the bat of Odlum.

The Dragons failed to push any runs across before the Beavers offense got back to their scoring ways the next inning, which brought the Beavers' lead to 7-0.

Minot State held Minnesota State-Moorhead scoreless before building their lead to 8-0 the following inning. The Beavers notched a run when DeGuzman drew a walk from Reece Dahl that scored Odlum.

Minot State held the Dragons scoreless before their offense got things moving the next inning. The Beavers notched two runs off of Minnesota State-Moorhead pitching, punctuated by a run-scoring double from Morrison, bringing the Minot State advantage to 10-0. Minnesota State-Moorhead put one run on the scoreboard before the game was over, but the Beavers still coasted to the 10-1 win.

Dawyduk (2-3) went the distance for Minot State (12-10, 5-3), giving up four hits, walking none, and striking out four.

Senior
Julia Suchan led the way offensively for the Beavers, going 2-for-3 in the ballgame with a double, a walk, and two RBIs. Senior
Isis Cabral put together a standout day at the plate as well, going 1-for-4 with a double. Sophomore
Lauryn DeGuzman also contributed, going 1-for-3 for Minot State with a double.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Beavers took the lead for good in the first, scoring for the first time in the inning. Minot State managed to push across two runs in the inning.

The Beavers then tacked on runs in the second and seventh innings, with their biggest output coming in the seventh when they scored two times. Those two runs came across on a two-run double from Suchan that brought home freshman
Isabella Penner and sophomore
Jamie Odlum.
