MINOT, ND – The Minot State women's basketball team returns to play, kicking off the new year with back-to-back NSIC games Friday Jan. 14 and Saturday Jan. 15 at the MSU Dome. The Beavers will face Augustana University and Wayne State College with a 7:30 p.m. tip-off on Friday and a 5:30 p.m. tip-off Saturday.
Last Time Out
The Beavers are coming off a loss to Bemidji State University, as the Beavers were defeated 73-62. Minot State canceled games against UMary, Southwest Minnesota State, and Sioux Falls due to COVID-19 protocols.
Leading the Way
Amber Stevahn led Minot State with 20 points and eight rebounds. Janie Wunderlich added nine points and nine rebounds for the Beavers. Anna Counts chipped in as well with eight points and two steals against Bemidji State.
Scouting the Vikings
Augustana University enters the contest with a 7-5 (3-5) record after missing two contests due to COVID-19 protocols. The Vikings are 2-0 in their last two games, defeating Wayne State 74-63 and Dakota Wesleyan 91-67. Lauren Sees leads the Vikings in points this season, averaging 16.8 points per game. Aislinn Duffy leads the team in rebounds, averaging 11.9 per game.
Scouting the Wildcats
Wayne State College enters the contest with a 7-6 (4-5) record after missing one contest due to COVID-19 protocols. The Wildcats are 0-2 in their last two games, after losing to Augustana University 74-63 and Northern State 64-53. Kylie Hammer leads the Wildcats in points this season, averaging 20.0 points per game. Kassidy Pingel leads Wayne State in rebounds, averaging 6.7 per game.
Next Time Out
Minot State returns to action at the MSU Dome to face Minnesota State University – Mankato Friday, Jan. 21 with a 5:30 p.m. tip-off. The Beavers will then battle Concordia University, St. Paul Saturday, Jan. 22 at 3:30 p.m. to round out the weekend.
