Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Minot State comes up short in 95-82 loss to Minnesota Duluth

MINOT, N.D. --
The Minot State men's basketball team could not keep up in a 95-82 loss to the Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs at home Friday in NSIC action.

The Beavers (4-4 overall, 1-3 NSIC) had four players score in double figures, led by Cam'ron Dunfee who had 19 points. Dylan Gichaba tacked on 14 points from the bench and Khari Broadway helped out with 14 points.

The Minot State offense was very productive from beyond the arc, pouring in eight threes on 22 attempts. Dunfee was the most prolific shooter for the Beavers, draining three treys in the contest.

Coach's Comments
"They're picked to win the league for a reason, they're really talented, really skilled, and we let them play a little too comfortable," Minot Satte's Matt Murken said.

"Really proud of how we battled back, ...just didn't get enough stops the second half; our defense wasn't quite where it needed to be and they did a great job of moving the basketball and taking advantage of our mistakes."

How It Happened

After falling behind 34-23, Minot State went on an 8-0 run with 5:29 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Gichaba, to narrow its deficit to 34-31. The Beavers continued to close the gap, cutting the Minnesota Duluth lead to 42-41 by the end of the first half.

The comeback continued with Minot State tying the game 59-59 on another Gichaba three with 11:32 remaining in the second half but Minnesota Duluth answered with six straight to pull away.

Minot State could not pull any closer in the second half, losing by a final of 95-82. Minot State got a boost from its bench in the period as non-starters accounted for 16 of its 41 total points.
