Izzy Penner put together a brilliant outing at the plate Saturday afternoon, hitting two home runs to help power the Minot State Beavers offense, while senior pitcher
Trinity Valentine was dominant in the circle, picking up a pair of wins as Minot State beat the Academy of Art Urban Knights 10-1, and the Western Washington Vikings 1-0 in day two of the Desert Stinger Classic.
Penner went 3-for-3 at the plate, supplementing her two home runs with four RBIs against the Urban Knights. Senior
Jamie Odlum added to Penner's awesome power-hitting performance by going 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Senior

Trinity Valentine (3-1) started in the circle and picked up the win for Minot State (6-2) as the right-hander went 2.1 shutout innings without giving up a hit, allowing two walks and striking out two against the Knights.
Valentine (4-1) then picked up the win out of the bullpen against the Vikings, going 4.2 shutout innings, allowing four hits, walking none and striking out six.
Odlum led the way offensively for the Beavers in their second-game win, going 2-for-3 in the ballgame with a double. Junior

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Beavers got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the bottom the first inning with the game still scoreless. Minot State scored three runs in the inning, including one driven in on a home run by Penner.
The Beavers then held the Urban Knights scoreless before getting back on the board the very next inning. The Minot State offense exploded for six runs, highlighted by a two-run home run off the bat of Penner, which brought the score to 9-0 in favor of the Beavers.
Minot State kept Academy of Art scoreless before expanding their lead to 10-0 the following inning. The Beavers scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Penner. Academy of Art put one run on the scoreboard before the game was over, but Minot State still coasted to the 10-1 win.
