Beavers look to bounce back on the road in Minnesota

MINOT, ND – The Minot State women's basketball team returns to action with two road games, facing Bemidji State and Minnesota Crookston Feb. 4 and 5, respectively. The Beavers will play Friday at 5:30 p.m. and Saturday at 3:30 p.m. to round out the weekend.    
 
Last Time Out    
The Beavers (8-12 overall, 6-7 NSIC) enter the contest looking to bounce back after two tough road losses. Minot State was defeated by Upper Iowa 80-71 and Winona State 86-55. 

Leading the Way 
Amber Stevahn led the Beavers last weekend, averaging 15 points per game. Stevahn ranks third overall in the NSIC in scoring, averaging 17.7 points per game this season. Natasha Elliott led Minot State in rebounds with seven against Winona State and Emma Mogen led with eight rebounds against Upper Iowa.

Scouting the Beavers 
Bemidji State enters the week with an 11-8 (9-6 NSIC) record. The Beavers are 1-1 in the last two games, after a 69-64 loss to Augustana University and a 60-51 win over Wayne State College. Trinity Yoder ranks third in the NSIC in assists with 5.3 per game. Yoder also averages 13.1 points per game this season. Rachael Heittola leads Bemidji State in points this season, averaging 15.7 points per game. 

Scouting the Golden Eagles 
Minnesota Crookston enters the week with a 1-16 (0-11 NSIC) record after missing the last two contests due to COVID-19 protocols. The Golden Eagles are 0-2 in their last two games, with a 63-55 loss to Southwest Minnesota State and a 70-60 loss against Sioux Falls. Abi Fraaza leads the Golden Eagles in scoring and rebounding this season, averaging 10.6 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. 
 
Next Time Out    
Minot State returns to the MSU Dome on Friday Feb. 11 against St. Cloud State, for fan appreciation night. The Beavers tip-off at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Minot State then faces Minnesota Duluth Saturday Feb. 12 at 3:30 p.m.
