Winona, Minn.- The Minot State women's soccer team scored early but weren't able to keep the Winona State Warriors off the board as the Warriors tied up the game in the second half.
The Beavers record moved to 2-2-4 overall and 2-1-2 in Northern Sun play. Winona State moved to 4-2-2 overall and 2-1-2 in Northern Sun play.
The Beavers were the ones to strike first just a minute and 18 seconds into the game thanks to a rocket from junior
Sarah Upton, unassisted, Upton's first of the season. The Beavers finished the first half with four shots, and one corner kick while senior
Maddie Kindred stopped two shots.
The second half was a different story as the Warriors senior Riley Harmon struck her fourth goal of the season at the 51st minute. Harmon's goal was assisted by freshman Madelyn Drasher. Minot's offense heated up in the second half creating nine shots while Kindred made two saves and the Beavers had two corner kicks.
The Beavers finished with 13 shots, six of them on goal, while Kindred stopped four shots, and the Beavers finished with three corner kicks. Senior
Daisy de Boer led the offense with five shots, one on goal, while five other Beavers accounted for the rest of the shots on goal.
The Beavers continue on the road on Sunday against the Upper Iowa Peacocks (2-3-3, 1-1-3 NSIC) in Fayette, Iowa with kickoff set for noon. The Peacocks are coming off a 2-2 tie with the UMary Marauders Friday night.
