ST. JOSEPH, Mo. -- The Minot State women's basketball team got a 27-point showing from the bench, but fell 79-54 to the Fort Hays State Tigers at Civic Arena Friday in the Central Region Showcase.
Emma Mogen led the Beavers (1-3 overall) with eight points and three steals. Jaime Skeggs added seven points and two steals and Peyton Breidenbach chipped in as well with five points and three steals off the bench.
Minot State forced 18 Fort Hays State turnovers while committing 17 themselves in Friday's game. The Beavers turned those takeaways into 14 points on the offensive end of the floor. Mogen's three steals led the way for Minot State.
How It Happened
Minot State struggled out of the gate, falling behind 13-7 at the end of the first quarter.
The Beavers continued to lose ground in the second quarter and faced a 38-24 halftime deficit.
Minot State's deficit continued to grow after halftime, and the Beavers faced a 65-35 disadvantage heading to the fourth quarter. Minot State played well near the basket, scoring six of its 11 points in the paint.
