MANKATO, MN – Minot State battled hard but came up short, falling 1-0 on the road against Minnesota State Mankato on Friday (Sept. 27) at The Pitch.
How it Happened: The Beavers held strong defensively in the first half, successfully keeping the high-powered Mavericks off the scoreboard for 45 minutes. However, Mankato broke through early in the second half, scoring the lone goal of the match. Despite the setback, Minot State goalkeeper Siriana Gudino delivered an impressive performance, tallying seven saves to keep the game close. Offensively, the Beavers recorded two shots, with Iliana Alvarenga registering the team's only shot on goal.
The Beavers showed resilience throughout the match, weathering 13 total shots from the Mavericks, eight of which were on target. Minot State's defense, anchored by Gudino and a determined back line starring Morgen Fried and Elsa Duquesne put up a strong fight against a Mankato squad that has been a consistent offensive threat this season.
Midfielder Sofia Galvez was a standout performer for Minot State, controlling the center of the field and disrupting Mankato's offensive rhythm. Her composure and vision helped anchor the midfield, providing stability and connecting passes to set up potential attacks. Up top, Anna Miotto and Mapi worked tirelessly to create chances, using their speed and agility to pressure Mankato's back line. Although they couldn't find the back of the net, their effort kept the Mavericks on their heels and opened up opportunities for their teammates.

Coach's Comments
Coach
T.J. Perez praised his team's efforts, saying "Great first half from us. Controlled the game and created more attacking opportunities than them. Second half needed to start quicker, let them dictate too much of the play. We ended the game strong creating some chances and need to follow our opportunities.
