Top-ranked Beavers net shutout win, skate into national semifinals

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The No. 1-ranked Minot State men's hockey team continued a determined march at the ACHA National Tournament with a 4-0 win over No. 9 Drury (Mo.) in the quarterfinals late Sunday night.

The Beavers (38-4-1 overall), looking for the program's fourth ACHA National Championship, moved one step closer with the victory and now face Adrian (Mich.) in the semifinals at 8 p.m. on Monday.

No. 2 UNLV and No. 4 Liberty face off in Monday's other semifinal.

Minot State marched on as Trenton Curtis scored 4 minutes, 23 seconds into the first period, then the Beavers built some breathing room with a pair of second-period goals.

Reece Henry scored 4:47 into the second period and Joey Moffatt made it 3-0 midway through the session.

In control, Reid Arnold helped ice the win scoring 3:43 into the third period for the Beavers.

Moffatt and Jay Buchholz assisted on Curtis' first-period goal, and Sheldin Howard had the helper on the Beavers' second score. Matthew Yakubowski and goalie Jake Anthony had assists on the third Minot State goal, while Buchholz and Christian Kadolph had the helper on Arnold's third-period score.

Anthony finished with 22 saves in the shutout win for Minot State, his fourth this season and his first of the postseason.

Minot State now advances to face the Adrian Bulldogs in a rematch of the 2022-23 ACHA National Championship game, a game the Beavers won 1-0 for the program's third ACHA National Championship.
