Minot State’s Caleb Van De Griend wins 2 statistical national titles

MINOT, N.D. – Six-foot-8 junior forward Caleb Van De Griend turned in a record-setting performance this season on the hardwood for Minot State, and with the season complete the NCAA announced that the Beavers' All-American is now a statistical national champion.

Averaging 13.1 rebounds per game as he started all 36 games for Minot State, the forward from Bridgetown, Australia, led the nation at the NCAA Division II level in rebounds per game to earn one statistical national championship.

Along with leading the nation in rebounds per game, Van De Griend also recorded 30 double-doubles this season to earn another NCAA statistical national championship with the most double-doubles by any NCAA Division II player this season.

Along with winning two NCAA statistical national championships, Van Griend was named an NABC and D2CCA All-American as he helped lead Minot State to a team-record 26 wins and the program's first-ever NCAA National Tournament berth.

Along the way, Van De Griend set single-season records for scoring with 752 points, and rebounds with 470, and set a single-game record for rebounds with 22 boards in a 113-104 win over Winona State in triple overtime on January 3.
