Jerrad Mason

Coach Mason joined the Minot State track and field staff in during the 2022-23 academic year and coaches all jumps and the long sprints.

Jerrad competed at the University of Missouri where he was a student-athlete from 2013-2018. He graduated from there with bachelor’s degrees in Sport Management and Accounting. During Mason’s time at Mizzou, he set personal bests of 10.73 seconds in the 100 meters, 21.52 in the 200 meters (indoors), 46.89 in the 400 meters (indoors) and 50.97 in the 400-meter hurdles. He made the finals in the SEC conference on several occasions and earned All-SEC honors.

In high school, Jerrad set the U-17 CARIFTA record at the CARIFTA Games held in Montego Bay, Jamaica in 2011 in the 800 meters with a time of 1 minute, 51.79 seconds at 16-years-old, which still stands today. He also competed in international meets, including the World Junior Championships, World Youth Championships, Commonwealth Games Youth, CAC, and qualified for others such as the PAN-AM games and NACAC.

Jerrad began his career as an assistant coach at the University of Missouri in the SEC conference before working as a high school coach and mentor in his home of Barbados, guiding more than 25 kids to college in the US on athletic scholarships

As a coach at Minot State, Jerrad has guided Nathan Trujillo-Aragon to the 2023 NSIC championship in the 400-meter hurdles and during the 2023-24 season guided 3 Beaver student-athletes to All-NSIC honors and 11 new school records.

Currently in the final semester in the master's program at Minot State, Jerrad will graduate with two master’s degrees, in Sports Management and Business Management, in May 2025.
