Minot State keeps shutout streak alive

Late start doesn't hinder Beavers' defense

ABERDEEN, S.D. – Despite a 11 p.m. start time, Minot State University kept it scoreless steak alive, earning a 0-0 double overtime draw with Northern State University (S.D.) Friday at Jerde Field.

MSU goalkeeper Marie Torres (Jr., Burlingame, Calif.) stopped all four shots she faced to earn her second shutout in as many starts. MSU now has 300 minutes of shut out soccer to start its inaugural season.

MSU finished with 16 shots overall and seven on goal. Four different Beavers ended with at least three shots in the game. But Northern's goalie Dee Wood did not let a shot behind her.

The Beavers moved to 2-0-1 on the season, while Northern State is 0-0-1 as the 11 p.m. start was the Wolves season opener. NSU plays a late-night soccer bash to begin each season.

MSU continues a road swing with a match at Minnesota State Moorhead Sunday.
