Beavers' Jamie Council scores three in win

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Minot State University exploded for four goals to beat up on future Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference foe University of Sioux Falls here Saturday.

The Beavers Jamie Council (So., F, Atascadero, Calif.) finished with a hat trick in the game as the Beavers started fast and never let up.

“Wow, that was the best we have played all year,” said MSU head coach Jason Spain.

Council finished with three goals on five shots on goal, getting MSU going with an unassisted goal in the seventh minute. She scored in the 39th minute and again in the 70th minute. All of her goals were unassisted.

The Beavers generated a ton of shots overall, getting 10 total shots in each half and finished with 13 shots on goal in the match.

MSU also got a goal on five shots from Zoe Fisher (Fr., Mid, Cambridgeshire, England) as she scored in the 84th minute.

Ashley Barzcewski (Jr., G, O'Fallon, Mo.) turned away four shots to earn the shutout and the win. She didn't have to make a save in the first half and stopped all four shots in the second half. Kelsey VanPeursem made nine saves for Sioux Falls.

MSU evened its record at 6-6 overall on the season. The Beavers next travel to Bemidji State Oct. 23 in Bemidji, Minn.
