RECENT HISTORY: Minot State couldn't get key stops down the stretch and fell 81-72 at the University of Mary in the Beavers NSIC opener Saturday. MSU got a big offensive night from
Luis Ricci Maia who scored a game-high 20 points and a huge night from
Tyler Rudolph, who earned his second double-double with 17 rebounds and 15 points.
Russ Davis hit four 3-pointers and finished with 14 for MSU. In a back-and-forth affair MSUM's Tanner Kretchman hit a deep 3 to give the Dragons a 93-92 win over NSU in both team's NSIC opener. NSU's Mack Arvidson thought he had a game winner with a 3 of his own with three seconds to play, but Kretchman beat the buzzer and the Wolves. Aaron Lien had 28 points in the win for MSUM. Arvidson hit nine 3-pointers and scored 37 points in the loss for NSU.

NSU has started the same fine all seven games so far this season.
NOTING THE DRAGONS: Minnesota State University Moorhead is scoring at a torrid pace, averaging 94.2 points per game including two games breaking the century mark… The Dragons have hit 52.9 percent of their shots for a solid average, but have been outstanding from beyond the arc, going 79-162, hitting 13 per game… MSUM has a gaudy 1.9 assist-to-turnover ratio with just 46 turnovers and 89 assists… Aaron Lien and Ayob Ayob have provided the Dragons with a solid 1-2 scoring punch as both average at least 20 points per game… Tanner Kretchman has 36 assist to just six turnovers to go along with his 15.7 scoring average.
