FARGO, N.D. - The Minot State University baseball team lost its mid-weak game against in-state opponent North Dakota State University on Wednesday evening 13-7.
The Beavers trailed 6-0 after five innings, only holding the Bison offense off in one inning at that point the MSU offense had to score some runs of their own. They did just that in the sixth inning, starting with a grand slam from freshman
Celestino Rodriguez (1B, Crystal Lake, Ill.), his eighth home run of the season.
Still trailing 6-4, Minot State put two on base and brought in both the runners with a double from
Taylor Williamson (3B, Jr., Creswell, Ore.) who then scored a run for the Beavers himself off a single from
Kyle Williamson (OF, So., Aurora, Ore.) to take the lead 7-6.
NDSU responded in the next inning, scoring five runs and followed it up in the eighth inning with another two.
Michael Borst (OF, Fr., McHenry, Ill.) was the lone Beaver to record multiple hits as he went two-for-four and recorded a walk.
Minot State will be back into conference play this weekend with a four-game homestand against Wayne State. Two doubleheaders will be played April 9 and 10 with games scheduled to begin at 12 and 2:30 p.m. both days.
