MINOT, N.D. – The Minot State women's soccer team defeated a Top 25 team for the first time in school history off a golden goal from
Morgan Myers in the 106
th minute on Sunday afternoon at Herb Parker Stadium as the Beavers topped Minnesota State 2-1 in double overtime.
The eighth straight win improves the Beavers to 11-4-1 (10-3 NSIC) on the season while the Mavericks fall to 13-2-1 (11-1-1 NSIC) and marks the second longest winning streak in school history.
Minot State was previously 0-7-2 all-time against Top 25 teams before knocking off the Mavericks on Sunday.
Haley Berryman scored the first goal of the match in the 14
th minute, recording her third goal of the season. Freshman
Sofia Lewis played the ball through the Maverick defense, and Berryman was able to strike it into the right side of the net from 10 yards out on the left side.
Minnesota State tied the match in the 53
rd minute when Jenny Hoerter scored her team-leading seventh goal of the season for the Mavericks.
Both teams played scoreless the rest of the match, leading to a second overtime.
Minot State's
Morgan Myers scored her third goal of the season on a header in the 106
th minute. Myers received the pass from a 50-yard free kick from
Kelli Creese.
Goalkeeper
Erin Rafferty improved to 11-4-1 on the season while recording a career-high 11 saves in the victory.
Minnesota State posted a 20-11 advantage in shots and 6-2 lead in corner kicks over the Beavers.

th minute) and Lauren Kizlik (90
th minute).
