Beavers Set to Battle Wolves, Dragons on Road

MINOT, N.D. -- The Minot State men's basketball team will venture on the road this weekend for a pair of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference games at Northern State and Minnesota State Moorhead. The Beavers will meet the Wolves on Friday (Dec. 14) at 7:30 p.m. and then face the Dragons on Saturday (Dec. 15) at 5:30 p.m.

The Beavers will be seeking to bring an end to a three-game losing streak and also secure their first NSIC win of the season this weekend. Minot State has suffered three conference losses and all three have been by seven points or less.

Minot State, which is 5-7 overall and 0-3 in conference play, dropped a pair of home games to Minnesota Duluth and St. Cloud State last weekend. The Beavers lost to the Bulldogs 70-65 and then fell to the Huskies 76-69.

Max Cody led four players in double figures with 20 points against Minnesota Duluth, while David Akibo notched a double-double with 24 points and 10 rebounds versus St. Cloud State.

Akibo currently leads the Beavers in both scoring and rebounding as the senior is averaging 16.3 points and 8.2 rebounds per contest. He has reached double figures in scoring in eight games on the year, including six straight.

Kyle Beisch is second on the team averaging 12.9 points per game and leads the Beavers with 24 three-point baskets. He also is tied for third on the team averaging 3.8 rebounds per contest.

Max Cody tops the Beavers with 55 assists and is third on the team averaging 12.4 points per game. He is shooting 51.3 percent from the floor and 81.3 percent from the foul line and also leads the team with 20 steals.

Dorian Aluyi also is averaging in double figures at 11.0 points per contest. He leads the Beavers shooting 58.9 percent from the floor among the regulars and is second on the team averaging 5.8 rebounds per game.

Kody Dwyer (5.1 ppg), Drake Jeffries (4.1 ppg) and Nibra White (2.9) have seen action in all 12 games on the season.

Minot State dropped both games to Northern State last season, but swept Minnesota State Moorhead.

Northern State currently sits atop the NSIC North standings with a 3-0 league mark and a 7-2 overall record. Minnesota State Moorhead is 7-4 overall and 1-2 in conference play.
