MINOT, N.D. -- The Minot State men's basketball team will conclude the regular season with home games against Minnesota Crookston and Bemidji State in a pair of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference games this weekend in the Minot State Dome. The Beavers will host Minnesota Crookston on Friday (Feb. 16) at 8 p.m. and then finish the regular season by facing Bemidji State on Saturday (Feb. 17) at 6 p.m.
The Beavers, who have already secured the No. 3 position from the NSIC North for the upcoming NSIC Tournament, enter the weekend with a 17-9 overall record and an 11-9 record in conference play.
Minot State has a 10-3 record at home this season and a 6-3 home record against NSIC opponents. The Beavers are averaging 82.2 points per game at home this season and are shooting 49.6 percent from the field. Additionally, Minot State is shooting 41.6 percent from the three-point line and averaging 15.9 assists per game in the Dome.
Tyler Rudolph leads Minot State averaging 24.1 points per game at home this season, while
Luis Ricci Maia is averaging 13.2 points and 6.9 assists per game at home.
David Akibo has also been solid at home for the Beavers as he averages 12.4 points and 7.3 rebounds per game in the Dome.
Overall, Rudolph paces the Beavers averaging 20.7 points per game which ranks second in the NSIC. He also is third in the conference in field goal percentage (.589) and eighth in the conference in rebounding (7.2).
Ricci Maia is second in the NSIC averaging 6.4 assists per game and also ranks ninth in the league averaging 1.4 steals per outing. Akibo is currently 12th in the conference averaging 7.0 rebounds per game and is 30th in the NSIC averaging 12.8 points per contest.
Minot State leads the all-time series with Minnesota Crookston 23-5, which includes an 80-77 victory at Crookston, Minn., on Jan. 20. Akibo had a double-double with 24 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Beavers, while Rudolph scored 17 points and
Russ Davis added 16 points.
The all-time series between Minot State and Bemidji State is tied 8-8 after Bemidji State posted an 80-73 win earlier this season in Bemidji, Minn. Rudolph scored 23 points to pace Minot Stat while Akibo had 14 points and seven rebounds. Ricci Maia added 12 points and
Nathaniel Moore scored 10 points.
Minnesota Crookston enters the weekend with a 10-16 overall record and a 7-13 mark in the NSIC, while Bemidji State is currently 11-14 overall and 8-12 in league play.
Saturday's game against Bemidji State will also mark Senior Day for Minot State as Rudolph, Ricci Maia, Davis, Moore and
Brandon Green will all be playing their final regular season home games in the Minot State Dome.
