MINOT, N.D. -- The Minot State men's basketball team are back in the Dome this weekend to grab a pair of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference game wins against Bemidji State University and the University of Minnesota Crookston. The Beavers will battle the Beavers on Friday (Jan. 25) at 7:30 p.m. and then face the Golden Eagles on Saturday (Jan. 26) at 5:30 p.m.
Minot State, which is 8-13 overall and 3-9 in conference play, went one and one against Southwest Minnesota State University and the University of Sioux Falls. The Beavers lost to the Mustangs 77-83 and posted a win against the Cougars 75-70.
Last weekend, David Akibo scored 30 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to record his sixth double-double on the season against the University of Sioux Falls, and
Kyle Beisch added 21 points on 9-13 shooting from the floor and 3-5 shooting from the three-point line.
Akibo currently leads the Beavers in both scoring and rebounding as the senior is averaging 18.5 points and 8.2 rebounds per contest.
Kyle Beisch is second on the team averaging 13.5 points per game and leads the Beavers with 43 three-point baskets shooting 36.1 percent from beyond the arc.
Max Cody tops the Beavers with 124 assists and is averaging 13.1 points per game. He is shooting 50.7 percent from the floor and continues to lead the team with 29 steals.
Dorian Aluyi (9.7 ppg), Drake Jeffries (6.0 ppg) and
Kody Dwyer (5.3 ppg) have seen action in 21 games this season.
Bemidji State University is 2-10 in NSIC and has a 5-11 overall record. Minnesota Crookston is 13-8 overall and 6-6 in conference play.
