Box Score (MINOT, N.D.) – The Minot State soccer team was defeated in their first game of Homecoming weekend by the visiting Concordia-St. Paul Golden Bears. CSP outscored the Beavers 5-0.
The Beavers struggled offensively as they only recorded four total shots, two from
Melanie van Walstijn and two from
Anabel Noches, with only one shot on goal.
Two Minot State goalkeepers saw action as
Erin Rafferty started and allowed the first four goals while saving nine shots.
Mackenzie Long came on late in the second half and allowed one goal with a handful of saves.
The Golden Bears scored four of their five goals in the first half. Hannah Pavek started the scoring in the 18
th-minute. Nikki Anderson joined the party just one minute later with her fourth score of the season. Katie Anderson netted the next two goals in the 37
th and 41
st minutes. Lastly, Leah Johnson scored her fourth goal of the year in the 66
th-minute to bring the final tally to 5-0.
Cayla Renwick, Hannah Pedersen, and Katie Anderson all recorded assists.
Concordia-St. Paul also played two keepers with Jordyn Clark starting the game and recording the shutout with one save on her only opportunity. Sarah Golemme relieved Clark in the second half.
Following tonight's match, Minot State's record fell to 1-7-0 overall and 1-4-0 in NSIC play. Concordia-St. Paul improved their 2019 record to 7-0-1 overall and 4-0-1 in conference competition.
The Beavers will be back at Herb Parker Stadium this Sunday, Oct. 6 for another match against the Mavericks of Minnesota State-Mankato.
