Men's Basketball Begins Conference Slate Against Rival

(MINOT, N.D.) -- The Minot State men's basketball team will play their conference opener at home on Saturday evening. The Beavers had a fantastic non-conference slate, as they finished 6-0 going into the rigid NSIC portion of the schedule.
 
 Minot State welcomes rival, the University of Mary, to the Dome in Minot for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off on Saturday, Nov. 30. 
   
 Series History 
  • In the recorded history, the Beavers and Marauders have met 58 times, going back to Dec. 18, 1986.
  • The Beavers lead the matchup, winning 33 to UMary's 25 victories. 
  • The first meeting on record was a victory by UMary 67-65. 
  • The Beavers have been dominant at home, winning 20 of the 29 games played in Minot. 
  • Last season, the Beavers were victorious 77-61 in Minot but fell in Bismarck 65-58.
 
 Beaver Tracks 
  • The Beavers are currently 6-0 on the season after pulling away from Valley City State, winning 81-64.
  • Kyle Beisch and Max Cody each set new career-highs against Valley City State, scoring 28 and 25 points.
  • Kyle Beisch leads the Beavers in scoring, averaging 19.8 points per game. He has done this by being able to get to the free-throw line, as he has shot 87.5% and gets to the line 5.3 times per game.
  • Max Cody and Kody Dwyer are the other double-digit Beaver scorers, averaging 16.0, and 11.7 points per game. 
  • Cody leads the team, averaging 6.0 assists per game. He also adds 1.7 steals per game.
  • Dwyer leads the team on the boards, averaging 5.8 rebounds per game. 
  • Stephane Manzi is shooting a staggering 61.5% from the three-point arc. 
  • Dwyer is shooting just under 84.6% from the field. 
 
 Scouting Report 
  • UMary has started the season 4-1, with their lone loss coming to Northeastern State University.
  • The Marauders are balanced offensively, with three players in the neighborhood of 15 points per game (Connor Hellebust, Jaylan White, Matthew Kreklow).
  • As a team, they shoot 43.4% and 36.1% from behind the three-point arc.
  • Jaylan White averages 2.4 steals per game.
