Beavers Falter on the Road

CROOKSTON, Minn. – In the final weekend of the regular season, the Minot State baseball team was handed a pair of defeats at Minnesota Crookston in an NSIC Doubleheader in Crookston, Minn.
 
The Beavers are 32-16 overall and 24-10 in NSIC play after falling 7-5 and 9-4 in the doubleheader.
 
Game One: Minnesota Crookston 7, Minot State 5
 
How It Happened
  • Trevaun Smith opened the game with a walk before touching home on an RBI double down the right field line by Darrel Doll.
  • Minot State doubled its lead in the second when Wyatt Schlosser doubled to right field and later scored on a wild pitch.
  • The Golden Eagles scored three runs on three hits to snag a 3-2 lead after two innings.
  • Doll scored Smith for the second time with an RBI single up the middle in the fifth inning.
  • Celestino Rodriguez lifted a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Michael Borst and Schlosser's RBI single plated Doll to give Minot State a 5-3 advantage.
  • Minnesota Crookston scored a run in the fifth and rallied for three in the sixth to post a 7-5 win over the Beavers.

  • The Beavers added two more in the third on an RBI triple by Schlosser and Borst's RBI groundout.
  • The Golden Eagles poured on six runs on four hits and a Minot State error to grab a 6-4 lead.
  • UMC scored a run in the fifth and tacked on a pair in the eighth to clinch the 9-4 victory.

  • Doll paced the Beavers with three hits, two RBI and a run scored.
  • Dillon Buckmeier, Schlosser and Rodriguez recorded one hit each.
  • Zach Newman dropped to 4-2 on the season after surrendering six runs (five earned) on four hits in 4.1 innings.
