(MINOT, N.D.) -- The Minot State Beavers' soccer team is looking to redeem themselves in their second consecutive home contest on Tuesday, September 17th. The Beavers will host Montana State University Billings in another non-conference match.
In their home opener, the Beavers were defeated 2-0 by nationally-ranked Ferris State University. In that game, Minot State battled back after the Bulldogs jumped out to an early lead but couldn't mount a big enough comeback to get the victory.
The Beavers will continue to ride veteran leaders such as
Sofia Lewis,
Melanie van Walstijn, and
Erin Rafferty as they seek their first win of 2019.
MSU Billings come in as a representative of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) with a record of 0-2-2. One of the Yellowjackets' two loses has come on the road. Their trip to Minot will be their second match-up with an NSIC team this season as they were defeated 1-0 by the University of Mary earlier this season (9/14).
The Yellowjackets are led offensively by a collection of girls. Sophomores Lindsey Meyer and Haylee Gunter, junior Haley German, and senior Alexa Iacolucci all have scored one goal this season, and each has also scored two individual points. Iacolucci has been the most aggressive threat on offense with 13 shots and six shots-on-goal. In goal, junior keeper Erin harder has allowed two goals so far in 2019 with six saves to her credit.
Tuesday's game will start at 1 pm at Herb Parker Stadium.
