Beavers Look to Improve Seeding for NSIC Tournament

(MINOT, N.D.) – The Minot State men's basketball team is back at home this weekend to host

SERIES HISTORY:
Friday's game will be the 31st matchup between Minot State and Minnesota Crookston since 1994. In that time, the Beavers have dominated the series. Overall, the Beavers are 26-4 but are also carrying a 16-game winning streak in the matchup.

This Saturday marks the 20th Beaver battle since 1988 between the squad from Minot and the team from Bemidji. Minot State currently has the edge in the matchup, winning 11 of the 19 games. Minot State also currently holds a two-game win streak in the series.

BALANCED ATTACK:
The Beaver offensive attack is led by Kyle Beisch, Max Cody, and Kody Dwyer. Beisch is seventh in the NSIC, averaging 19.6 points per game. Cody averages 15.5, and Dwyer chips in 11.2.

AUTOMATIC DOWN LOW:
Dwyer, the Beavers starting center, has shot the ball at an outstanding clip this season, hitting 125-174 of his attempts for a sterling 71.8%. That percentage is the second-best in the NCAA.

DISHING THE ROCK:
Cody has been a reliable distributor throughout his career at Minot State. Nothing has changed this year, as he averages 6.5 assists per game, leading the conference in that category. Cody also ranks 12th in the NCAA in this measure.

DEFENDING THE ARC:
The Beaver defense has been one of the team's strengths throughout the year, especially the three-point defense. The Beavers allow opponents to hit just 33.2% of their attempts, the second-lowest mark in the NSIC.

SCOUTING REPORT:
Minnesota Crookston – The Golden Eagles have a 9-15 overall record and a 5-13 NSIC mark. Minnesota Crookston has a dangerous weapon in Harrison Cleary. Cleary is the second-leading scorer in the NCAA, averaging 27.5 points per game. He also became the leading scorer in NSIC history earlier this season. Minnesota Crookston excels at the charity stripe, hitting 81.2 (341-420) percent of their attempts to lead the NSIC in that category. The Golden Eagles, while not great defensively, turn teams over. Opponents average turning the ball over 13.5 times per game against Minnesota Crookston.

Bemidji State – The Beavers have a 7-11 mark in the NSIC to go along with an overall record of 10-12. Bemidji State is effective on the offensive side of things, shooting the third-highest field goal percentage in the conference to go along with scoring the fifth-most points per game. In addition, they shoot it better than any other team in the conference from three-point range, hitting 40.7% of their tries.
