No. 1 Minot State hosts No. 11 University of Jamestown for midweek matchup

MINOT, ND – No. 1 Minot State hosts No. 11 Jamestown this Tuesday, November 16th for the third matchup this season between the top-ranked teams.

Coming into this competition the Beavers are currently 2-0 in faceoffs against the Jimmies. After a close game that was pushed into a MSU overtime victory to kick off the season, the Beavers shut down the Jimmies in the following home match 4-0. With just about three hours of a drive away from one another and the fight to be North Dakota's best collegiate hockey team, competition is alway intense between these two programs.

University of Jamestown is currently sitting at a .500 winning percentage, winning five and losing five of their games so far this season. Three times this season the Jimmies have faced an overtime battle with their opponents and have fallen short of a victory every time.

For Minot State, their nine-game win streak looks to break into the double digits in hopes of taking a third win from the in-state rivals. Carter Barley currently leads the Beavers in total earned scoring points with 14 points this season, along with five goals and 1.56pts per game. Reece Henry and Landyn Cochrane have been key players for MSU's offense with eight assists each over 1 goal per game for the both of them.

Jake Anthony and Riley Wallace have held it down protecting the net this season. Wallace comes into this midweek matchup with 95% of all shots saved, Jake Anthony averaging 94% with sixty-two more minutes on the ice played than wallace.

Tuesday night's competition is set to be full of intensity and high energy. Both teams bring loads of passion to the ice; the tensions that arise during the games they've played so far are ignited by the fierce competitiveness between the Jamestown Jimmies and the Minot State Beavers.

Puck is set to drop at 7:30p.m. in the Maysa Arena this Tuesday, November 16th.
