DULUTH, MN --Melvin Newbern scored 21 points, but the Minot State men's basketball team fell to the Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs 91-73 on the road Friday.
The Beavers (8-2, 2-2) had four players score in double figures, led by Newbern, who had 21 points. Max Cody tacked on 13 points, seven assists and three steals and Kody Dwyer chipped in as well with 12 points.
The Minot State offense was very productive from three point land, pouring in nine threes on 19 attempts. Camron Dunfee was the most prolific shooter for the Beavers, draining three treys in the contest.
How It Happened
Minot State struggled out of the gate, falling behind 50-31 heading into halftime.
Minnesota-Duluth kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing an 84-60 advantage before Minot State went on a 7-0 run, finished off by Cody's three, to shrink the deficit to 84-67 with 3:23 to go in the contest. Minnesota-Duluth responded and outscored the Beavers the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 91-73. Minot State shot well from three-point range in the half, hitting six shots from deep to score 18 of its 42 points.
