MINOT, N.D. – It took the Beavers a bit to get on track before they skated away from the visiting Lumberjacks.
Minot State scored a pair of goals 19 seconds apart in the second period to break a scoreless tie as the Beavers beat Dakota College at Bottineau 4-1 on Wednesday at the Maysa Arena.
Nick Doyle broke the scoreless tie 3:45 into the second period, scoring a power-play goal off an assist by
Eric Soar.
Then, just 19 seconds later,
Josh Pederson made it 2-0 in favor of Minot State (15-1-0 overall) as he scored off assists from
Jordan Robertson and
Davis Sheldon.
The Beavers never looked back.
Dakota College at Bottineau (7-5-2) got one back with 1:49 left in the second period, but the Beavers answered quickly as
Connor Navrot scored an unassisted goal 38 seconds later, re-establishing Minot State's two-goal advantage.
In control headed to the third period, Minot State iced the victory with a final goal midway through the final stanza as
Reid Arnold scored off assists from
Justin Metcalf and
Brayden Pawluk.
Riley Wallace finished with 21 saves in goal in the victory for Minot State, which is back in action Friday night hosting the Jamestown Jimmies at 7:30 p.m. at the Maysa Arena in the Beavers final home game of the 2021 calendar year.
