Beavers Open Season with Overtime Victory

Jamestown, N.D. ‒ The intense match-up between the Minot State and Jamestown men's hockey teams was ended by Connor Navrat's game-winning goal at 1:25 in overtime, off an assist from Landyn Cochrane. Navrat shot, rebounded, then shot again up close at the net to grant the Beavers their first win of the season. The senior forward had a remarkable performance on the night, scoring two out of MSU's three goals.

It was a scoreless start to the night, with both teams making it through the first period with no goals. Until the second period, when the Jimmies took the lead 1-0 with a goal. The Beavers retaliated and scored not once, but twice.

Carter Barley, who returns for his second season with the Beavers hockey team, assisted on Navrot's first goal of the night. Not long after, Jared Hamm worked with Jake Bestul who scored the second goal of the night for the Beavers with just 4:35 left in the second period.

Freshman Jake Anthony had an impressive college debut guarding the net for MSU tonight with 30 saves.

The Beavers host their first home match-up tomorrow night, October 1st, at the Maysa Arena. Admission is FREE to all spectators. Game begins at 7:30p.m. CT.
