No. 2 Minot State Travels to No. 9 Jamestown for Seventh and Final Regular Season Matchup

MINOT, ND — For the final time this regular season, Minot State will take the three hour trip down the road to face off on the ice against the Jamestown Jimmies. The Beavers have taken five out of the six games between the two teams this year and look to close out this best-of-seven series with a road victory on a Wednesday night.

It hasn't been very long since the teams last saw each other; MSU took one more win from the Jimmies this past Saturday in a close 2-1 defeat over their home state rivals on their home ice. Head Coach Wyatt Waselenchuk is appreciative for the opportunities they have to go up against UJ as much as they do. "They're a good, good opponent for us," Waselenchuk states, "they make us work hard and bring out the best in us."

The Jimmies are currently coming off of a two-game losing streak and have allowed a total of 67 goals scored on them so far this season—double the amount of goals the Beavers' defensemen have allowed through their net this year. Minot State has also seen more success than University of Jamestown in terms of breaking through to seal the deal in a win, as the Jimmies have seen 3 ties pushed into OT that were unable to determine a winner when the buzzer alarmed.

Jamestown has seen advantages in recent games with the Beavers in scoring early and scoring first, giving MSU more work to do to catch up and regain the lead. Coach Waselenchuk's focus as the Beavers move forward is to "clean things up in the D-zone". Waselenchuk continues, "We need to shorten up our defensive zone and our neutral zone and just be a little cleaner on our zone exits. We've got four fantastic offensive lines so you know what if we keep that up we're going to be successful."

The Beavers and Jimmies will matchup for midweek play at Jamestown's home rink, The Wilson Arena. Final puck drop between these two teams for the regular season is at 7:00p.m.
