SIOUX FALLS, SD --Senior RJ Martinez was dominant on Sunday, punching out eight Mary hitters over five innings of work, but it was not enough as the Minot State Beavers lost to the Marauders 13-9.
In addition to his eight strikeouts, Martinez tossed five innings, giving up six runs, all of them earned, on nine hits and walking four for Minot State (23-16, 17-7).
At the plate, the Beavers were paced by Junior Kaiden Cardoso, who went 1-for-3 on the day with a home run, a walk and three RBIs. Junior Ricky Apodaca put together a noteworthy day at the dish as well, going 3-for-5 with a walk and an RBI. Sophomore Mark Ossanna also chipped in for Minot State, putting together one hit in four trips to the plate while adding a double, a walk, and an RBI.
