MINOT, N.D. – This time 10 different Beavers scored while goalie
Riley Wallace led the way in the net with the same result for Minot State: A lopsided team-effort win for the No. 1-ranked Beavers.
Sheldin Howard,
Carter Barley, and
Colby Joseph each scored a pair of goals and Wallace stopped all 13 shots he faced as the Beavers rolled past visiting Waldorf (Iowa) for the second straight night, beating the Warriors 13-0 at the Maysa Arena.
Friday night Minot State (9-0-0 overall) scored a 9-1 win over Waldorf, and the Beavers started a busy weekend with a 5-3 win Thursday night over No. 23 Missouri State.
Minot State now gets a couple of weeks to rest up before returning to the ice on Wednesday, Nov. 1, when they head south to play in-state rival the University of Mary at 7 p.m.
The Beavers earned some rest after a relentless onslaught Saturday that saw Howard score 34 seconds into the action, then he added his second of the night - and season - on the power play with 9:43 left in the opening period.
The lead quickly grew to 3-0 as
Christian Kadolph scored 1:36 later, then
Troy Hamilton scored with 2:29 left on the clock in the first period for a comfortable 4-0 lead.
Comfortable turned into commanding in the second as
Logan Cyca scored his first collegiate goal,
Brayden Pawluk, Barley, Joseph, and
Trenton Curtis all added a goal for Minot State, stretching the lead to 9-0.
Josh Pederson and Josh Arnold added a goal each in the third period, and Barley and Joseph also scored their second of the night apiece, providing even more insurance for the Beavers, and Wallace in goal.
Wallace made sure all the offense was plenty as he made 13 saves in his first shutout of the season.
