MINOT, ND -- The Minot State men's basketball team got a 27-point performance from the bench on the way to an 88-65 victory over the Mary Marauders at home Saturday in NSIC play.

The Beavers (7-2 overall, 3-1 NSIC) had four players score in double figures, led by Khari Broadway, who had 23 points. Caleb Van De Griend tacked on a double-double from the bench with 17 points and 11 rebounds and Ben Bohl chipped in as well with 15 points.
 

The Minot State offense made hay from deep, pouring in 10 threes on 22 attempts. Broadway hit three treys for the Beavers in the contest.

Coach's Comments
"We came out early and got off to a good start," Minot State coach Matt Murken said. "I thought we set the tone with our intensity - obviously, you have to win the energy battle every game - fired up to play."
 

How It Happened

After jumping out to a 44-30 advantage, Minot State went on an 8-0 run with 2:09 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Broadway, to increase its lead to 52-30, a score that would hold until halftime. Minot State did most of its first-half damage in the paint, scoring 30 of its 52 points close to the basket.
 

Minot State kept its lead intact before going on an 8-0 run, finished off by Kameron Givens' layup, to grow the lead to 73-44 with 11:54 to go in the contest. The Marauders narrowed the margin somewhat before the game was over, but the Beavers still cruised the rest of the way for the 88-65 win. Minot State shot well from three-point range in the half, hitting six shots from deep to score 18 of its 36 points.
