MINOT, N.D. - The Minot State Beavers defeated #14 Grand Canyon University 4-1 on Saturday, November 2, to sweep the two-game series. The Beavers came into this game after defeating Grand Canyon on Friday, November 1, by a score of 4-2. This win improves #3 Minot State's record to 8-1-1, while #14 Grand Canyon moves to 3-3-1 on the season.
The first period was all Minot State as the Beavers drew first blood on a power play goal scored by
Logan Rands at 15:58 into the period to put the Beavers on top 1-0. The Beaver's goaltender, Will Dyke, kept Grand Canyon scoreless in the first period with 6 saves on 6 shots on goal.
Minot State quickly added to their lead in the second period on a goal scored by
Trenton Curtis at 4:06 into the period to put the Beavers ahead 2-0. The goal scored by
Trenton Curtis was his first goal on the season. Grand Canyon cut into Minot State's lead with a power play goal scored by Owen Hanson at 14:34 into the period to make the score 2-1 in favor of Minot State.
The Beavers, once again, got the scoring started in the third period on a goal scored by
Eric Krywy at 8:14 into the period to make the score 3-1. The goal scored by
Eric Krywy was his first goal on the season. The Beaver's tacked on another with a goal scored by
Joey Moffatt at 10:52 into the period to increase Minot State's lead to 4-1. Will Dyke, once again, held Grand Canyon scoreless in the third period with 6 saves on 6 shots on goal to give the Beavers the win 4-1.
