CARONPORT, Saskatchewan - Minot State's captain Jay Buchholz had the lone goal of the night as the Beaver men's hockey team fell 8-1 to host Briercrest in an exhibition game Friday night. 

William Dyke and Mason Kelly split time in goal for Minot State in the contest. 

Minot State opens its season in earnest on the road next weekend, playing games at the University of Illinois on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 27 and 28, contests that also mark the Beavers Midwest Collegiate Hockey conference debut.
