Beavers open up MCH Conference Tournament play against Iowa State University

MINOT, N.D. - The #1 ranked Minot State Beavers men's hockey team is set to open up MCH Conference Tournament against Iowa State University on Friday, February 21, at 1:30 pm in Bloomington, Illinois. Barring the result in game one against Iowa State University, the Beavers would likely take on the winner of the University of Illinois vs. the University of Jamestown in the semi-final game on Saturday, February 22, at either 4:30 pm or 7:30 pm. The final will be held on Sunday, February 23, at 1:00 pm and it will be the North Division vs. South Division winners. The North Division is made up of Minot State University, Iowa State University, the University of Illinois, and the University of Jamestown, while the South Division is made up of McKendree University, Midland University, Illinois State University, and the University of Mary. All games being played in the MCH Conference Tournament are being hosted by Illinois State University in Bloomington, Illinois. Minot State currently holds a 33-2-3 record, and Iowa State University currently holds a 7-22-3 record. 

The Beavers are currently coming off of a two-game series against #3 Ohio University where they swept the series with a pair of impressive victories. In game one, on Saturday, February 15, the Beavers defeated Ohio University 6-5 in a shootout. In game two, on Sunday, February 16, the Beavers defeated Ohio University by a final of 3-2. The Beavers will be looking to continue their momentum going into game one of the Conference Tournament against Iowa State University. 

Minot State and Iowa State matched-up twice against one another this season in a two-game series at the Maysa Arena back on Friday, January 10, and Saturday, January 11. In this two-game series, the Beavers swept Iowa State outscoring them 22-3 in two games. In game one, on January 10, the Beavers shutout Iowa State securing a 10-0 victory. In game two, on January 11, the Beavers defeated Iowa State by a final score of 12-3. Minot State will be looking to make history repeat itself when they take on Iowa State in game one of the MCH Conference Tournament on Friday, February 21. 

Players to watch:

Joey Moffatt is the leading Beaver forward in both points scored and goals scored with 43 points and 24 goals on the season. Logan Rands is the leading Beaver defensemen in both points scored and goals scored with 31 points and 14 goals on the season. Jake Anthony and William Dyke continue to be an impressive tandem in goal this season for the Beavers. Jake Anthony currently holds a 18-2-2 record with a 0.919 save percentage, and William Dyke currently holds a 12-0-1 record with a 0.935 save percentage.

Following the MCH Conference Tournament game one match-up against Iowa State University, the Beavers will be back in action on Saturday, February 22, in Bloomington, Illinois.
