BLOOMINGTON, IL - The Minot State Beavers men's hockey team defeated the University of Jamestown 2-1 in overtime on Sunday, February 23, to become the 2024-2025 MCH Conference Tournament Champions. Following the MCH Conference Tournament Championship win, Beavers forward,
Joey Moffatt, was named the tournament MVP.
The University of Jamestown got on the board first on a goal scored with just 39 seconds left in the first period to take a 0-1 lead into the start of the second period.
Both teams were held scoreless throughout the second period of play to take Jamestown's 0-1 lead into the final 20 minutes of regulation.
With just under 3 minutes left in the third period, the Beavers tied the game at 1-1 on a goal scored by
Brayden Pawluk to force overtime.
Just over a minute into the overtime period,
Joey Moffatt scored the game winning goal to give Minot state the 2-1 overtime victory.
In their first ever MCH Conference Tournament, Minot State becomes the 2024-2025 MCH Conference Tournament Champions.
Following the MCH Conference Tournament Championship win over the University of Jamestown, the Beavers will be back in action in an exhibition game against the University of Jamestown on Wednesday, March 5, at 7:00 pm at the Maysa Arena. Following the exhibition, the Beavers will be back in action in the ACHA National Tournament. Game times are currently TBD, but the Tournament begins on Thursday, March 13, and ends on Tuesday, March 18, in St. Louis, Missouri.
