Box Score SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The road proved tough for the Beavers on Saturday.
Stymied by a stingy Sioux Falls defense, the Minot State football team fell 34-0 on Saturday in NSIC play.
The host Cougars (2-0 overall) jumped in front 17-0 in the first quarter and never let the Beavers (0-2) gain any offensive rhythm, holding Minot State to 88 total yards of offense on the day.
"I was really proud of how hard our guys played for 60 minutes," Minot State head coach
Mike Aldrich said. "We battled through injuries and adversity, which is especially difficult on the road.
"USF is a very good football team and they were able to capitalize on our mistakes," the Beavers coach added. "But we did some good things and we have a lot to build on for next week."
Dawson Macleary completed 9-of-17 passes for 68 yards and
Marshaun Campbell went 4-for-7 for 40 yards off the bench to lead the offense, while
Knylen Miller-Levi added seven tackles and an interception to lead Minot State's defense.
Back home next weekend, Minot State hosts Wayne State on Saturday, Sept. 17, at 1 p.m. at First Western Bank Field at Herb Parker Stadium.
