MINOT, N.D. – Record-setting performances highlighted the month of April and garnered men's golfer
Jace Carlisle and women's sprinter
Summer Krebsbach honors for their efforts.
Setting both a new school and NSIC single-round record at the NSIC Men's Golf Championship, Carlisle was named Minot State's Pinnacle Employee Benefits Male Athlete of the Month for April.
On the track, Krebsbach also set two records, both new school records, in the 100 meters and 200 meters, while also hitting her first NCAA qualifying mark, earning her Minot State's Pinnacle Employee Benefits Female Athlete of the Month for April honors.
Pinnacle Employee Benefits became the title sponsor for Minot State's Athlete of the Month award during the 2021-22 academic year. The award recognizes the outstanding athletic achievements each month of one male and one female Beaver student-athlete.
Carlisle started off the month strong as he turned in a top-10 finish at the Augustana Spring Invitational, the final tune-up prior to the NSIC Championships. The graduate student from Estevan, Saskatchewan shot a 2-under 146 for the tournament, opening with a 3-under 69 on Monday then adding a 5-over 77 in Tuesday's final round.
Following up a strong tune-up tournament, Carlisle and the Beavers headed to the Adams Pointe Golf Club for the 54-hole NSIC Championship where Carlisle started off with a casual 7-over 79.
Then he made history, shooting a 7-under 65 to vault up the leaderboard, set a new single-round Minot State record, and a new NSIC Championship record for the lowest round ever.
Carlisle then finished strong, shooting a 3-under 69 in Saturday's final round to place 4
th at 3-under 213 for the tournament, tying the Beaver 54-hole low score and earning NSIC All-Tournament honors.
The NSIC Championship was the final event of the season for the Minot State men's golf team and Carlisle.
Meanwhile, on the track, the stellar outdoor season continued for Krebsbach who already held both all-time Minot State school records in the 100 and 200, having broken a 44-year-old school record in the 100 in Arizona in March.
But racing in the biggest meet of the month in April, Krebsbach went ahead and broke both the 100 meter and 200 meter records she held on the same day.
Finishing 2nd overall at the NCAA Division I-packed North Dakota Spring Classic in the 200 meters, she broke her own school record of 25.28 with a time of 24.50 seconds.
Adding a 4th-place finish in the 100, she crushed her own school record in the event of 12.08 and hit her first-ever NCAA national qualifying mark. Her 100 time also ranks 6th fastest this season in the NSIC.
Krebsbach also added a pair of race wins on the month, winning the 200 meters at the Bison Open hosted by NDSU, and the 100 meters at the Marauders Tune Up.
Krebsbach and the rest of the Minot State track and field teams' student-athletes head to Minnesota Duluth next weekend, May 8-10, for the NSIC Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
