MINOT, N.D. – It's the most prestigious individual honor the NSIC hands out, the NSIC Honor Student-Athlete Award which recognizes the top male and female student-athlete at each NSIC member school who excels academically, athletically, and in community involvement.

Earning this prestigious honor from Minot State are redshirt-sophomore baseball pitcher Conner Meldrim and senior women's basketball guard Emma Mogen.

As NSIC Honor Student-Athletes, both Meldrim and Mogen were finalists for the NSIC's Dr. William Britton Scholar-Athlete and Willis R. Kelly Scholar-Athlete Awards, respectively. Minnesota Duluth's Austin Andrews was named the Britton Award winner and Augustana's Liz Dierks the Kelly Award winner.

To be eligible for the Honor Student-Athlete award and be a Britton or Kelly Award finalist, nominees must maintain a 3.5 GPA, or better, achieve academic excellence beyond the minimum GPA by receiving scholarship prizes and other academic recognition, must participation in the life of the institution, and must compete in at least two-thirds of their team's games.

Meldrim is an Exercise Science and Rehabilitation major from Las Vegas, Nevada, who just finished his junior year academically and was named to the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence for the first time this spring.

The redshirt-sophomore pitcher took to the mound 21 times this spring for the Beavers with one start, pitching 36 2/3 innings with 2 wins and a save for Minot State.

Mogen, who graduated with a degree in Nursing earlier this month, was named to the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence for the third time this past winter.

The senior guard from Watford, City, North Dakota, also was named to the All-NSIC 2^nd Team for the first time for her play this past season as she led the Beavers in scoring (12.4 ppg), rebounding (5.3 rpg), assists (69), and steals (37) staring all 30 games for Minot State.
